Vegas, baby … VEGAS!

May 11th, 2010

Heading out west this month … my first trip to Las Vegas, actually … to begin a series of commissions for the family of a wonderful woman I met in Egypt a couple years back.I’ve also been busy this spring refurbishing my studio and finishing several new pieces. Eventually, this site is going to undergo an upgrade, too. Making slow, but steady progress.

Bristol exhibit in April

April 7th, 2009

If you find yourself in historic Bristol, Rhode Island during the month of April, please stop by Gallery 297 — it’s located at 297 Hope Street, right above the Green River Silver Company. I have some work on display there as part of the Art League of Rhode Island’s annual associate members exhibit. If you’re interested in purchasing the 24″ x 36″ painting of Rome’s Fountain of Trevi that’s hanging there, it is up for sale (there’s a photo version of it in the Gallery section of this website). The Newport show drew a lot of traffic last month. Thanks to everyone who came to see that. Meanwhile, work continues on several new canvases, which I hope to exhibit sometime this summer.

Newport exhibit in March

March 2nd, 2009

Even when it’s not tourist season, Newport is a great place to visit. Actually, it’s probably a better place to visit when it’s not tourist season. You can actually drive around and find plenty of parking spaces!

I did that today as I went to Spring Bull Gallery to drop off some work for their “End of Winter” show, which opens next weekend. The opening reception is Saturday, March 7, from 5-7 p.m., and the exhibit runs through March 31. Spring Bull is located at 55 Bellevue Avenue, literally down the road from Newport’s historic mansions.

Hope to see you there … while there’s still room to park.

Upcoming show

January 14th, 2009

As tough as 2008 was for most of us, there were also plenty of good memories from the past year. On a personal note, to name one, I had the first three exhibitions of my career. And now that the NFL season is over … at least for my Patriots, sadly … I have more time to devote to painting again.

And I’m starting off the new year with some more good news. In March, I’ll be exhibiting at a gallery in Newport, Rhode Island. I’ll have more details as the time gets closer.

End of summer update

August 23rd, 2008

Well, it’ s been a busy summer, but I finally have some new images to share with everyone. Please check out the new Photography section in the Gallery. There, you’ll find several of my snapshots from Italy, Egpyt, and my hometown of Providence, Rhode Island. There’ll be some new paintings up there later this year as well.

Football season’s back, which means I’m even busier than ever traveling with the Patriots again, but I’ll soon be shopping around for more galleries in which to exhibit, hopefully in time for the new year.

Recent show and new work

June 26th, 2008

Just want to say a quick thank you to the hundreds of people who attended the show on the Cape earlier this month, where I was displaying with a handful of other very talented artists. I enjoyed meeting those of you who took the time to stop and admire my paintings and photography, and for all your kind words.

I’m currently in the middle of about 10 new paintings, which I hope to complete before the end of the summer. And in the near future, you may see a bit of a new look to the website, to reflect the new directions I’m taking with my work.

Coming soon: Images from Egypt

May 19th, 2008

I’ve just returned from a most adventurous trip to Egypt, my first anywhere in Africa or the Middle East. Many of the photos I snapped will now enter the pipeline of new paintings I’ll be starting soon.

The Pharaonic pyramids, towering temples, proud palm trees, haunting hieroglyphs, and, of course, the life-giving Nile River are all subjects in my latest collection.

As an aside, many of you have asked me if I sell prints of my photos, and yes, I do. The demand is becoming great enough that I’m seriously considering re-designing the site to accommodate a section for photography.

Upcoming shows

April 14th, 2008

I’ve been invited to exhibit in a pair of upcoming shows, the first of which will take place during the month of May at the Chabot Fine Art Gallery in Pawtucket. I’ll be displaying at least a dozen or more paintings there from May 2nd through the end of the month. Chabot is located at 595 Mineral Spring Avenue (Suite 11), directly behind the Lorraine Fabrics building.

Immediately after that show, I’m privileged to be participating in the first annual Cape Cod Food & Wine Festival. Only a handful of other artists were asked to exhibit at this event, which will be held Sunday, June 1st at the Rectrix Aerodrome in Hyannis, Mass.

Hope you can stop by either or both shows.

First color paintings

April 9th, 2008

Exciting news!

By popular demand, I recently started a series of full color paintings (my first foray into colors other than black and white) of famous places around the globe. I’m starting with sites and locations where I’ve already been (like Italy) and will soon be visiting, including Egypt.

For portraits, I’ll continue to create them in my signature black and white, which I find much more dramatic than color when it comes to faces. So, I think the juxtaposition between these two vastly different bodies of work will offer a compelling contrast of attention-grabbing images.

Providence Art Club exhibit

March 2nd, 2008

Thanks again to everyone who showed up to see my first exhibit at the Providence Art Club last month. I should have some news about upcoming shows very soon.

I also have some new subjects lined up, in various poses and lighting. Very excited about these, so keep an eye out for them as well.
